Planning Your Fittings

Do I need an appointment at Luxury Tailors?

For wedding dress alterations, you must make an appointment. All other alterations (e.g., bridesmaid dresses, formal dresses) do not require appointments, and we accept walk-ins during our open hours.

When should I schedule my first fitting appointment?

We recommend scheduling your first fitting 2 months before your wedding date to allow enough time for all necessary alterations and adjustments. We do not recommend making appointments more than 3 months in advance.

How many fittings will I need?

Most brides need 2-3 fittings, but this can vary depending on the complexity of the alterations and any custom work being added.

How long does a fitting take?

Your first appointment can last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the number and complexity of the alterations. Other fittings take less time. During your first fitting, our tailors will determine the scope of work with the bride and provide an estimated timeline and price. The tailor will also show you different bustles for your dress style.

Do I need to bring anything to my fitting?

Please bring your wedding dress, shoes, and any special undergarments or shapewear you plan to wear on your wedding day.

Do you alter dresses purchased from anywhere?

Yes! We work with gowns from all boutiques, designers, and online retailers, as well as vintage gowns and family heirloom gowns. We are highly experienced with dresses purchased at local bridal shops like Brickhouse Bridal.

Alterations

Do you alter bridesmaid, mother-of-the-bride, or other formal dresses?

Yes, we also offer alterations for bridal party members, mothers of the bride or groom, and other special occasion gowns.

What types of alterations do you offer?

Our most common alterations are hemming and bustles. We can handle anything from resizing to adding modesty sleeves, reshaping necklines, custom trains and overskirts, and more. We also create custom accessories, such as veils and belts.

How much do wedding dress alterations cost?

Pricing depends on the complexity of the work needed. We can provide a rough estimate if you fill out our request a quote form. We will provide a detailed estimate at your first appointment. The price set at the initial fitting will only change if you request additional work.

Do you do last-minute alterations?

We do our best to accommodate rush requests depending on our schedule. Rush fees may apply. Please call us beforehand.

What if my body changes before the wedding?

Final fittings are scheduled as close to your wedding date as possible to catch any size changes. We make adjustments as needed. This is also why we don’t recommend making your first appointment earlier than 2 months before your wedding.

After Your Wedding

Do you offer gown cleaning services?

We offer steaming before the wedding and professional wedding gown cleaning services after the wedding to remove any stains and dirt.

Do you offer gown preservation after the wedding?

We offer professional gown preservation services to help you protect and cherish your dress for years to come.

Can you transform my dress after the wedding?

We love giving dresses new life. We can transform your gown into a robe, christening outfit, cocktail dress, or other sentimental keepsakes.
